We're looking for our next Analyst, Data & Analytics. Could It Be You?

Under the direction of the Business Intelligence Lead, MRSI, the Analyst, Data & Analytics work with the MRSI team, across the USA and Canada, to leverage data, processes and resources to drive actionable insights, and drive business value, leading to a profitable Insurance Portfolio.


The data analyst must address and solve current business problem, proactively identify areas of improvement and action on them, and highlight and solve data issues.

Success in this role requires a flexible and persistent individual that is capable of adding their own perspective to a business problem with the ability to work both inside and outside the box.

Time, resource and stakeholder management are good assets to have and develop for this role. This role is based out of our Toronto office.

  • You will work closely with a team of Data & Business Professionals to identify, understand, solve and deliver solutions.
  • Develop robust and scalable solutions from historical data that add value to the Munich RE brand.
  • Create impactful reports and dashboards for the business to interact with and access regularly.
  • Own and maintain products that consistently drive business insight.
  • Support business domains with a host of data requests and requirements based on changing market needs.
  • Spot and eliminate current operational and technical gaps in products.
  • Be a champion of Data & Analytics in the organization by enhancing the end users' experience.
  • Understand and mitigate risks associated with Data Quality across the organization.
  • Conduct analysis to address everyday issues with various levels of complexity.
  • Effectively automate redundant business processes to save time and effort
  • Work closely with project management to ensure projects are scoped, planned, resourced and delivered ontime and on specification.
  • Contribute to the team's analytics toolbox comprising of standard and homegrown methodologies and approaches required to answer business questions, navigate markets and cycles, develop strategies and understand performance.

  • First and foremost, you demonstrate a natural desire to provide exceptional client service through their energy, enthusiasm, and initiative.
In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Statistics
- ~3 years of experience with coding in using SQL (Example: T-SQL, PL-SQL etc.)
- ~3 years of hands-on experience with Power BI (including DAX coding) or other similar reporting technologies such as Tableau
- ~2 years of experience in the Canadian P&C Insurance Industry with a focus on KPI implementation

  • Intermediate knowledge in MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word
  • This position requires sound technical skills, analytical abilities, good judgement, strong operational focus and ability to organize and manage workflow in fast paced environment with focus on service and business value.
  • Technical: Advanced Analytical & Problem solving skills with a logical bent of mind and selfstarter personality. Has a known track record of delivering data driven projects on time and in an efficient and scalable manner. Basic knowledge on MS SharePoint, Azure Databricks, Python and/or R
  • Commercial: Passionate about solving problems enjoys connecting the dots between data, strategy and analytics, loves to innovate and drive change and is obsess with generating tangible business value;
  • Organization: Able to coordinate multiple tasks and ensure work is delivered ontime and accurately operate in a fastpaced and rapidly changing environment with competing project priorities. Demonstrate experience working in team that promotes empathy, change, collaboration and multitasking
