THE ROLE:


The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for delivering various retail and mixed-use projects on time, on budget and within the quality parameters.

Reporting to Director, Construction, the Assistant Project Manager will be an integral part of our Construction Team, overseeing both preconstruction and construction activities.


_Please note this position can be based in either Edmonton or Calgary, AB and it will require continuous travel to different properties and projects throughout the region._

WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Assist with procurement of design team and General Contractors for development, leasing, and major property management construction projects.
  • Support with cost estimates.
  • Draft monthly cost reporting and cost to complete data.
  • Assist Project Manager with managing project to ensure schedules, budgets and quality are not compromised.
  • Assist in risk analysis.
  • Manage Health and Safety requirements on projects relating to Owner/Sponsor responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance to standards and quality control.
  • Review landlord work scope in collaboration with Tenant Coordinator and Project Manager.
  • Gather and organize existing property information and documents for each construction project.
  • Work with the project manager to obtain municipal permits, as required.
  • Ensure consultants have proper & accurate information to complete permit plans.
  • Liaise with contractors, trades, and other external groups, ensuring they have appropriate and accurate information to complete required projects work on time.
  • Coordinate with tenant coordinator for tenant signage reviews.
  • Review plans to ensure code compliance, lease requirements and respecting FCR's standards.
  • Inspect the construction work to ensure it adheres to the lease landlords work schedule, municipal and national building code, and bylaws.
  • Visit project sites to ensure work is completed as per contract documents.
  • Ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely.
  • Manage project cost tracking logs, submittal and drawing logs, construction schedule and document logs.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

WHAT YOU BRING:


  • College or university graduate in a technical field with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Industry professional membership in one or more; MRICS, PMP, PEng, Engineering Technologist.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Solid knowledge of construction and building systems.
  • You are service oriented and know how to problem solve and offer solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate and coordinate with tenants, external partners, vendors, internal teams, and others.
  • You are organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills to coordinate multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook). Some experience with MS Project and Auto CAD would be a plus.
  • You can read and understand construction plans.
