    Job Summary:


The IT Support Specialist supports the organization's goal to ensure the security of corporate data and provide technical support to employees.

The Specialist will perform functions to ensure Hospice employees' computer systems are up to date and operate effectively and efficiently.

Support will be required for all parts of the system including hardware, software and network connections. The Specialist will support updating of software and equipment, testing new equipment and training other staff members.

The Specialist will perform regular checks to ensure the system is working properly and repair any faults they find to minimize the risk of major system failures and data loss.

The Specialist will perform troubleshooting tasks as assigned.

The position requires an understanding of the capabilities and constraints of technology and resource implications in terms of staff training and appropriate support.

The Specialist will support management of statistical data collection tools.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide essential technology support services to all Hospice staff at all locations.
  • Mentor and train Hospice staff in areas related technology. Organize and deliver training for users.
  • Support the scheduling of upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems.
  • Provide support for all hardware instillations and upgrades.
  • Provide support for new user setup.
  • Provide phone system support.
  • Be trained as backup for training for I.T. and privacy for all new employees, residents, interns and volunteers.
  • Maintain records, inventory and information on computer and telecom equipment as assigned.
  • Recommend policies on system use and services.
  • Other projects as assigned.
  • Comply with Accreditation Standards.
  • Represent the Agency in a professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager or the Director of Finance and HR.

Requirements:


  • Communication skills, ability to interact closely with staff and explain concepts and instructions to staff in a simplified manner

  • To keep uptodate with rapid technological advances
  • An interest in computers and an understanding of how they work
  • Patience and a methodical approach to their work
  • Must be selfmotivated and a team player
  • Must have excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Vehicle will be required to support multiple sites
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once with interruptions
  • Technical_
  • Must have experience in a computerized environment
  • Knowledge and experience with Hospice computer systems and medical terminology will be considered a definite asset.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and document completed work, also to interpret data models and manage database structures.
  • Experience_
  • 12 years' experience in the Information Technology industry
  • Previous experience in a health care environment preferred
  • Education_
  • Must have a recognized degree or diploma in a computer technology related field
