Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking a full-time Dual Surveillance Supervisor


The Surveillance Operator is responsible for protecting and overseeing monies, property and constant observation of all gaming areas including but not limited to slot and table games.

The Surveillance Operator is accountable to report all suspicious/ unethical activities, incidents, discrepancies that concern the security and safety of the Great Blue Heron Casino in which could result in harm or loss to the company.

This position will also require the flexibility to be called upon to act as Shift Supervisor when required. You will be accountable for the staff, assigning duties, briefing/monitoring of employees and overseeing occurrences as they develop. As a Surveillance Supervisor, you will foster a safe and efficient work environment while maintaining an open-door policy.

A Surveillance Supervisor ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.


Duties as an Operator:


  • Monitor all casino games including but not limited to slot and table games;
  • Observe employee appearances and performance in adherence to departmental procedures;
  • Actively monitor and acquire complete knowledge of potential theft and cheating methods;
  • Report any suspicions, attempts or incidents of cheating or theft by patrons or employees to the Surveillance Shift Manager;
  • Strong understanding and knowledge in the operation of video monitor console equipment including logging procedures and location of cameras;
  • Report any workplace safety hazards including any cleaning and maintenance issues to the Surveillance Shift Manager;
  • Prepare surveillance reports as required
  • Duty to testify in the court of law as a witness for the Great Blue Heron Casino in regards to any criminal activities observed while on or off duty;
  • Responsible to ensure confidentiality on all surveillance data and information and requests, unless authorized by the Surveillance Shift Manager, Surveillance Manager or required by law;
  • Report any personal circumstances that may be in conflict of interest or hamper the credibility of the operator role;
  • Train new employees or assist with retraining current employees as required
  • Maintain high integrity, honesty, and professionalism at all times;
  • Maintain strong work ethics including being punctual for work and providing proper briefing information to colleagues;
  • Maintain knowledge of current and changes in policies;
  • Follow all Health & Safety Policies and Procedures;
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times;

Duties as a Supervisor:


  • Supervising, managing and delegating Surveillance Operators daily tasks, duties and maintain awareness of all gaming operations at all times
  • Communicates effectively and interacts with internal and external customers while delivering exceptional customer service
  • Must be reliable, diligent and maintain a high level of integrity
  • Safeguard confidential information and prevents its improper disclosure or use
  • Investigate, report and document all irregular, unusual, suspicious, or illegal activities
  • Maintains and verifies logs, enter information into trackers and timesheets, prepares and verifies departmental reports
  • Monitors, documents and reports violations, unauthorized access, large cash/cash equivalent transactions, trespassed and selfexcluded guests (not limited to)
  • Stores records securely for evidence purposes
  • Monitors and reports on the conditions of Surveillance facilities and equipment; performs preventative maintenance on equipment as required
  • Provides training and coaching to all new team members
  • Assist the management team with projects as needed
  • Ensures health and safety directives are followed and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as directed by Surveillance Manager or designate
  • Ensures compliance with Alcohol and Gaming Commission regulations and applicable laws, policies and procedures.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Table Games and gaming industry considered an asset
  • Responsible for the supervision and performance management of Surveillance Operators.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, observational, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive and solutionoriented skills with strong problemsolving, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant (license) with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
