Youth Outreach Worker


Reports to:
Youth Intervention Lead


Position Status:
Part-time 15 hours a week, late afternoon, evenings, and weekends hours, hours increase during peak seasonal times (July, August, December School Break and March Break)


Salary:
$16.50 per hour

Responsibilities:


  • Plan and promote programs and activities for newcomer youth ages 1321, this includes regular programming outings and special events planning
  • Help recruit participants
  • Set up program space and prepare for activities
  • Be attentive, encourage and assist with participants' engagement during programming
  • Clean up after activities

Qualifications:


  • Ability to colead programming in a culturally diverse group
  • Awareness of activities, topics and events that are interesting to newcomer youth
  • Experience working in a group setting, delivering workshops, leading physical activity sessions, games and activities that engage participants in a welcoming and accessible manner
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good rapport with youth
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work positively with groups & individuals
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills
  • Genuine interest in working with youth of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Multilingual is considered an asset
