Youth Outreach Worker

Reports to:
Youth Intervention Lead

Position Status:
Part-time 15 hours a week, late afternoon, evenings, and weekends hours, hours increase during peak seasonal times (July, August, December School Break and March Break)

Salary:
$16.50 per hour

Responsibilities:

Plan and promote programs and activities for newcomer youth ages 1321, this includes regular programming outings and special events planning
Help recruit participants
Set up program space and prepare for activities
Be attentive, encourage and assist with participants' engagement during programming
Clean up after activities

Qualifications:

Ability to colead programming in a culturally diverse group
Awareness of activities, topics and events that are interesting to newcomer youth
Experience working in a group setting, delivering workshops, leading physical activity sessions, games and activities that engage participants in a welcoming and accessible manner
Demonstrated ability to develop good rapport with youth
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work positively with groups & individuals
Demonstrated effective time management skills
Genuine interest in working with youth of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
Multilingual is considered an asset
