Overview

Acts as part of an interdisciplinary team, facilitating patient flow through the Oncology Clinic/Hemodialysis/Kidney Care Clinic (MCKC, Home Dialysis).

This involves booking appointments, registration, file management, orientation of the patient/family to the unit, data collection and procurement of supplies.

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, postsecondary education preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Recent experience, within 2 years, of working in an oncology/renal clinic.
  • Knowledge of Cancer Care Ontario/Ontario Renal Network reporting required.
  • Public Relations/customer service training preferred.
  • Successful completion of Cerner training.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team in an extremely fast paced environment(s)
  • Ability to multitask and proven organizational skills.
  • Proven innovation in problem solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, when dealing with coworkers, other disciplines, other departments, patients/families, family physicians, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be receptive to instruction/direction and changes.
  • Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory.
  • Expert with Plexxus SAP-SRM requisitioning and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures, terminology and equipment related to oncology/hemodialysis/ Kidney Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with patients, to provide family centered care.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
