As a Safety Manager, you will advise and assist the management team in the establishment and implementation of Parsons' ESHARP Guidebook and Project Safety, Health and Environmental Plan (PSHEP) - identifying, communicating and/or eliminating or controlling hazards to persons and property. You will report organizationally to the Parsons Director - SH&E Canada.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring occupational health and safety and public safety issues are addressed and requirements met, in accordance with the OHSMS and SMP.
  • Managing all occupational health and safety issues associated with the project on a daytoday basis.
  • Meet in person with the client's representative or designate as required.
  • Utilize safety management software to document incidents (including proactive events), meetings, inspections, orientations, observations, and corrective actions.
  • Complete and submit any notices or similar documents required pursuant to applicable law.
  • Engage managers and supervisors in the risk assessment process for new or modified work activities.
  • Develop and/or review Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) as required.
  • Develop and/or review the Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • Develop and/or provide safety orientations for workers, contractors, vendors and visitors.
  • Oversee provision and documentation of first aid treatment and communication to appropriate personnel when applied.
  • Assist supervisors with conducting incident investigations to ensure the identification of root causes and corrective actions.
  • Complete prequalification of potential subcontractors and review of safety plans prior to mobilization.
  • Develop and/or provide training materials to workers as required.
  • Support Certificate of Recognition (COR).
  • Other responsibilities as needed or assigned by GTA VP.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Have certification as a safety practitioner, specialist, professional or equivalent from an accredited organization (e.g., CRSP)
  • Experience with Certificate of Recognition (COR) process and internal COR auditor certification is preferred
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills and use of safety management software
  • Willingness to be an active participant on a health and safety committee
  • Experience working as a Prime Contractor on a multiemployer worksite
  • Experience with hiring/interviewing safety advisors/coordinators is preferred
  • Emergency response training is preferred
