    Description
    Position Summary

    Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Bulkley Valley District Hospital.

    Reports to Director of Care and is guided by the Visions and Values of Northern Health, BCCNM Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics.

    Identifies, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social and psychological needs in accordance with established NH and BVDH policies and procedures.

    Practices as a member of the nursing team.

    Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, Rotating

    New Wage :
    As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is: $ $59.52/hour

    Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 24-bed Acute Care facility,
    which integrates home and community care into one facility.

    Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town's Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College. Check out where there is always something new to experience.

    Qualfications


    • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
    • Post-graduate certification in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing or a minimum of one (1) years' recent related experience in an Emergency or ICU setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
    • Current CPR – Basic Rescuer level required.
    • Current ACLS certification preferred.
    • All Specially Trained Nursing Skills (STN) related to the unit of employment must be completed within six (6) months of employment.
    Skills and Abilities:


    • Ability to manage all equipment appropriate for the provision of care for patients admitted to the acute care unit.
    • Ability to deal with emergency situations, patients and families.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
    • Ability to provide direction to nursing and non-professional nursing staff.
    • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to assist in orientation of new personnel.
    • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts; including coworkers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients and families.
    • Ability to operate related equipment.
