Job Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Contracts, the Specialist, Strategic Contracts is responsible for developing and leading the sourcing, formation and supplier relationships for strategic contracts, with the purpose of minimizing total cost of ownership and operational risks, while maintaining or improving service levels to internal stakeholders.

This position will be based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.


Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement an annual business plan for managing and optimizing the Strategic Contracts portfolio
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to develop effective cost reduction strategies, accurate sourcing and execution plans, ensuring the correct performance of the commodity and/or service category
  • Develop and implement contracting strategies for identified commodities and services taking a strategic and long term view in identifying and developing innovative sources and contractual arrangements
  • Develop, negotiate and maintain strategic agreements, evaluate supplier performance according to contract, and ensure efficient flow of all conditions in contract
  • Develop new strategic suppliers via the prequalification process
  • Manage supplier relationships for strategic contracts, in order to improve performance and results
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and solve multidimensional problems impacting the management and direction of supply chain.
  • Proactively adjust to future customer needs and changing business environments
  • Monitor current suppliers to ensure adherence to Sherritt's safety program by living the Sherritt safety values
  • Ensure Sherritt's quality management system(s) is followed in supplier engagements
  • Support communication and change management plans
  • Deliver standardized dashboards and reporting packages
  • Provide support and guidance for Contract Management operations
  • Embed a lean and continuous improvement mindset to achieve a highly reliable, safe, and competitive Global Supply Chain Management organization

Qualifications and Skills

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in business or supply chain, or; Professional designation
  • SCMP, SPSM, PMP, equivalent or 10 years of contract experience.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of contracting laws and contracting best practices.
  • Advanced RFx knowledge (RFP, RFQ, RFI, etc.)
  • Advanced Negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills proficient in the use of MS Office products
