The Department of Political Science at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence on July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
Applicants should hold a PhD or be close to completion of a PhD in political science in the subfield of Comparative Politics, with regional specialization within the global South (i.e., regions or countries in: Africa; Latin America and the Caribbean; East, South or Southeast Asia; the Middle East). Area of thematic specialization is open, though candidates whose research intersects with issues relating to gender, sexuality, Indigeneity, racialization, and/or class are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join a department with strengths in environment and climate politics; health politics; public policy; and political economy.
Applicants should demonstrate evidence of commitment to teaching, pedagogical growth and excellence; a vigorous research agenda that includes scholarly publication (demonstrated or potential); and willingness to participate in collegial service.
The successful candidate will be joining a research-active department with a vibrant undergraduate and MA program. They will be expected to teach introductory comparative politics courses and specialized upper-year seminars focused on the comparative politics of specific global South regions or states; to teach and supervise graduate students; to maintain an active research program; and to contribute to departmental and university service. As appropriate given the candidate's research program, there may also be the opportunity to teach and supervise in the Faculty of Arts interdisciplinary programs of International Development Studies and/or Gender and Women's Studies.
