Summary of Duties:


The program and services offered at the Youth Centre are designed to address and facilitate personal, social and emotional development of the community's youth.

The Youth Centre Worker will assist the Youth Centre Coordinator in developing and planning programs to support youth to make choices about their present and future options regarding education, health and leisure, careers and social situations.


Key Deliverables and Expectations:


  • Assists with programs and activities in the Youth Centre.
  • Ensures the health and safety of youth in the Youth Centre by adhering to all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with designing and facilitating weekend activities and encourage as many youths as possible to take part.
  • Help in cultivating a fun, warm safe, harmonious atmosphere in the common areas.
  • Ensure that the Youth Centre is clean.
  • Daily upkeep of Youth Center grounds.
  • Open and close the youth centre.
  • Enforce rules at the youth centre.
  • Include Ucwalmicwts language presence in the youth centre.
  • Maintain incident reports.
  • Communicate with Youth Center Coordinator, Parents and Guardians, when needed.
  • Works with other Lil'wat Nation departments, when needed.
  • Available for evening and weekend shifts.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

  • Ability to analyze situations, plan, organize, and research.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to maintain working relations with fellow employees and the public.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Must be positive role models in their own daily habits and life outlook.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint an asset
  • Motivated selfstarter and with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
  • Class 5 Drivers License an asset.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check including vulnerable sector.
  • Previous experience living or working with First Nations communities preferred.
  • Previous experience as a participant or organizer of youth programs, activities, etc.
  • Evenings & weekends, potential for a flexible schedule to meet the needs of a student.
