ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage, supervise, and direct the work of ramp team members as they unload/unload and service aircraft.
  • Create and manage schedules to ensure adequate staffing and GSE for all ramp operations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Airline clients and management to minimize or eliminate potential delays or safety concerns.
  • Represents SAMSIC Canada in regular or adhoc meetings with clients and airport community in coordination with local Management, as needed.
  • Ensures all needed department reports are accurate and completed in every shift.
  • Understand, observe, and enforce all SAMSIC and Airline security & safety regulations.
  • Expertise on Baggage handlingprocessing from Airport Authority, Airlines, CBSA & US CBP
  • Expert in managing company policies, as well as SOPs & KPIs.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly staff scheduling.
  • Ensures daily, weekly, monthly reports are completed on a timely manner.
  • Ensures operational briefings and debriefings are conducted regularly.
  • Serves as the point of contact/escalation for issues or activities that the customer encounters by owning and expediting resolutions and provides prompt response to service requests.
  • Responds efficiently to client request for information and action.
  • Manages, assigns and ensures all company GSE procedures and processes are completed on a daily basis, are up to date and properly documented including required checks, status, and outofservice equipment.
  • Diligently works with GSE Shop provider.
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials identification labels, aircraft loading manifest and log flight information for billing purposes
  • Actively search for and report to station management any future business opportunities.
  • Assist with all ramp team duties (safety walks, baggage/cargo handling, aircraft servicing, safely operating GSE around aircraft, etc.) as needed.
  • Leads, along with local Management the hiring and onboarding, including dismissal in coordination with Superiors.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages all required initial, recurrent and onthejob training in coordination with Training Manager. Documented and filed.
  • Leads ongoing team member professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommendations.
  • Provide employee counselling and discipline as needed.
  • Lead internal/external auditing procedures, processes, and creates action plans for the department.
  • Always represent the company with the upmost professionalism and lead by example.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma, GED or its equivalent in proven work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills to interact professionally with team members and customers.
  • Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Obtain airport security clearance which includes an extensive employment, criminal record and residence background check.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 35 years' progressive leadership/management experience with focus on Ramp Operations in an airport environment.
  • Previous experience in leading teams for optimal operational and financial results.
  • Knowledge of applicable Airport regulations, including standard security, Health & Safety program and familiarity with Canada Labour Code.
  • Must be flexible to work various shifts, weekends, or irregular shifts.
  • Computer skills. Microsoft Office and reporting tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift up to 70 pounds (32 kg) on a regular basis.
  • Carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs and use of available working tools.
  • Climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
  • Work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises. Airlines are 24/
