Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible to support all GFL Liquids related work for all EHS matters within the scope of the role.

The successful incumbent will administer and coordinate various loss control and risk management duties primarily focused on the areas of workers compensation, controlled substance and alcohol testing.

Act as liaison between outside health care resources, insurance carriers and claims management.


Key Responsibilities:


Supports operations in ensuring that all applicable EHS policies, as well as EHS statutory, and regulatory obligations, are considered and adhered to.

Ensure that appropriate corporate governance and due diligence practices are maintained through inspection, audit and training programs and that overall EHS training at GFL is being effectively implemented in the field
Ensure that all required programs such as ISO are maintained within the overall program
Supports and monitors all programs within EHS to ensure all appropriate documentation is adhered to, to meet due diligence obligations

Supports the day-to-day administration activities of GFL operations on all EHS matters

Conducting inspection & investigations

Ensures compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Construction & Industrial Regulations and other pertinent legislation

Ensures compliance for all customer programs such as IS Networld, Avetta, Contractor Check

Supports all EHS programs; COR, ISO 450001, SEMS, Flex, Subcontractor Managment

Supports training & development programs, scheduling training, record keeping

Conduct Onboarding/Orientations for new hires

Administrative support for IEC requirements including training, auditing, and other admin support as required.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

1-2 years in an EHS role; recent grad in and OHS program OR relevant industry background
A team player that accepts and can manage change regularly
Train the trainer in some of the required field level training (Fire Extinguisher, Confined Space etc.)
Possess valid driver's license.
Combination of education and/or experience.
Ability to effectively communicate with managers and employees.
Ability to write and understand reports and correspondence.
