Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

The Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University offers the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Education (face-to-face & online),
  • BA in Educational Studies
  • College to University Pathway (online),
  • BA in Educational Studies
- 4-year program (face-to-face & online),

  • Masters of Education/Arts (online), and
  • Doctorate of Education (online)

Required Skills:

Ability to teach effectively in a variety of forums (in-person, online virtual classrooms)

  • Ability to provide innovative and inclusive teaching strategies;
  • Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment;
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and students;
  • A proven commitment to cultivating learning communities;
  • Evidence of successful integration of theories of learning/teaching in instructional practice, including course design and development;
  • Evidence of a wellgrounded understanding of curricular and pedagogical design, educational research, and authentic assessment that integrates a variety of digital technologies;
  • A proven ability to meaningfully and effectively integrate technology in an online learning environment, including synchronous, asynchronous, and blended modes.
  • Openness to new and diverse perspectives of teaching and learning;
  • Experience using a wide range of alternative assessment practices;
  • Instructional practice that fosters reflection, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, problemsolving and independence;
  • Participation in disciplinespecific educational scholarly or professional communities in and beyond Ontario will be considered an asset.

Required Education:

-
A
Master's degree in education or course-related discipline is required;


Desired Experience:

-
2+ years teaching in pre-service teacher education

  • 2+ years experience teaching
  • 2+ years teaching online
