- Provide technical coaching to junior team members
- Supervise personnel assigned to own projects
- Perform detailed engineering based on codes, standards, and industry best practices for projects varying from carbon capture and hydroelectric plants (penstocks, hydromechanical equipment, balance of plant) to heavy industrial plants and pulp & paper mills (process equipment, pumping, HVAC, piping) and mining processing plants (material handling, crusher, conveyors, pumping, piping)
- Produce engineering proposals, cost estimates, schedules and other documentation to support project development
- Manage small and medium-sized projects, ensuring they stay within budget and meet client requirements
- Perform engineering calculations
- Present technical information and concepts to members of team.
- Prepare deliverables in area of professional practice with high level supervision.
- Review piping and equipment layouts in both 2D drawing format and 3D modelling environment, and provide input to designers
- Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, and testing
- Receive mentorship and coaching from intermediate and senior engineers, actively growing knowledge, and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team
- Foster a culture of having fun at work while producing high quality professional work
- Able to prepare calculation notes and technical reports on own for low risk and/or low consequence deliverables
- Able to size, specify, evaluate and select process equipment, such as pumps, tanks, pressure vessels and heat exchangers
- Able to effectively communicate with internal team members and client representatives
- Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
- Enthusiastic about solving technical challenges with collaborative, practical and innovative solutions
- Proactive and prepared to take accountability
- Have 6+ years of consulting, construction or industry experience in hydropower, mining, carbon capture, renewable energy or pulp and paper. Pay will be adjusted based on the candidate.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
- Ability to travel to local job sites within BC as required. Some travel outside of BC may be required.
- Registered as a P.Eng with EGBC within three months of hiring
- Valid driver's license
- Annual base salary between $102,000 - $141,000
