Highlights of the job:

We are looking to add a motivated and collaborative professional to join our Project Management team.

We have a full time, temporary
Project Manager position available for up to 12 months working out of Edmonton, AB.


As the Project Manager, you are accountable for various aspects of project delivery for EPCOR Electrical Transmission and Distribution projects, from starting project execution through to close out.

This includes cost and schedule monitoring, scheduling crews, contract management, HSE reporting, coordinating regulatory deliverables and records management.

The Project Manager is responsible for their teams' performance in the areas of safety, budget, schedule, execution planning, resourcing planning and client contact, as well as internal and external reporting.

This position may be eligible for EPCOR's hybrid work program


What you'd be responsible for:


  • Overall delivery of all scopes of work through to close out for EPCOR internal and external clients.
  • Supervising one or more team members as required.
  • Working with the Construction or Operations Manager to schedule internal EPCOR crews.
  • Ensuring all projects are managed with safety being the number one priority; contributing to EPCOR's zeroinjury culture at all times and ensuring conformance to all relevant OH&S legislation and EPCOR's HSE policies and procedures.
  • Setting up and managing subcontracts in support of the work, as required.
  • Interfacing with client representatives, providing timely updates on construction progress and responding to client requests for changing work fronts or schedule escalations.
  • Attending worksites to evaluate completion of work, schedule progression and adherence to project quality and safety standards.
  • Making timely adjustments using sound project management principles to ensure overall targets are achieved or exceeded, as required.
  • Monitoring project costs against the budget and maintaining an accurate estimate at completion for financial forecasts.
  • Generating accurate and timely invoicing, with the support of team members and EPCOR finance.
  • Leading and maintaining accountability for documentation gathering and turnover to support project closeout when execution is complete.

What's required to be successful:


  • Engineering or business degree or diploma, with equivalent technical background based on extensive experience in trades, construction or project management is required.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in a construction or electrical utility environment is preferred.
  • Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in the hazards and appropriate safe work practices.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to deliver results; plan and organize work and people; develop schedules and budgets; and meet schedules, quality requirements, safety and contractor management requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, understand and manage complex budgets and resource balancing relative to this area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of earned value analysis and project cost and schedule forecasting.
  • Understand and manage complex budgets and schedules relative to this area of responsibility.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger management team within a dynamic environment.
  • Communicate technical or complex issues in a clear and succinct way.
  • Make informed decisions using quick analysis and sound judgement.
  • Use interpersonal skills to deal with people issues, listen to others and provide feedback.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration among a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Resolve issues when faced with complex technical problems, ambiguous processes or competing priorities.
