  • Principal InvestigatorThe Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Sinai Health in Toronto seeks a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to support the portfolios of two Principal Investigators collaborating across Sinai Health and University Health Network, focused on qualitative research studies in the field of diabetes.

Responsibilities:


  • Supports coordination of the implementation and evaluation of research studies and projects
  • Participant recruitment, managing informed consent processes, conducting interviews and focus groups; maintaining detailed field notes.
  • Provides principal investigators and research team members with daytoday administrative support tasks such as coordinating and scheduling research and community meetings, creating and communicating detailed meeting notes, facilitating and documenting participant stipend payments, maintaining project folders and documentation.
  • Assist with data preparation, analysis, presentations and the development of study proposals under the direction of the principal investigator including analyzing and interpreting results using selected methods, preparing technical reports, summaries, protocols, manuscripts and quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Maintains research and project management databases, carries out data entry responsibilities such as reviewing and coding transcripts using a qualitative software management program.
  • Ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in building and maintaining interinstitutional research project collaborations
  • Liaises with project stakeholders to facilitate knowledge translation activities with a wide range of organization activities and groups.
  • Contributes to grant preparation, literature reviews, proposal development, conference presentations and manuscript production activities.

Qualifications:


  • A Ph.
D. or M.Sc. degree in in an appropriate specialization (health or social science related field)

  • 2+ (Ph.
D) or 5+ (M.Sc.) years in a relevant research and/or development environment (including time spent in a relevant training program)

  • Advanced research knowledge and skills specifically in qualitative research protocol and study design, management of research ethics processes, qualitative data collection (including interviewing) and management; interpretation and analysis; presentation of results and reporting
  • Proficiency in qualitative data collection methods (interviewing, focus groups) and thematic content analysis
  • Experience with project management and coordination (e.g., planning, reporting, budgeting)
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Proficient academic writing skills is an asset (protocol development, grant writing, manuscript development, poster and abstract development) with demonstrated experience in these areas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Proficiency with NVivo is preferred
  • Certification in research ethics core principles and guidelines (e.g. TCPS2)
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with team members from a wide variety of functional areas and diverse expertise levels
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills
