The Keenan Research Summer Student (KRSS) Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and executing the 2023 KRSS Program.

This will include registration of summer students, coordinating the weekly seminar series, conducting Summer Student Poster Competition and other administrative duties as assigned to support the functioning of the Office of Research Administration (ORA).


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:


  • Coordinate, review and process registration and payroll packages; Ensure accuracy and completion for enrolment into the payroll system. Provide students a brief overview of the hospital and the program. Ensure they are able to navigate their way through the hospital and registration process.
  • Organize and execute weekly seminars for students. Create, confirm and send out agendas, order catering, secure seminar chairs and potentially act as seminar chair.
  • Coordinate with the St. Michael's Research Student Association to coordinate joint events between the summer students and grad students.
  • Organize and facilitate the KRSS Poster Competition including securing judges, registering competitors, publicizing the event, coordinating with the SMH print shop, ordering catering, poster boards and room set up.
  • Provide great customer service to potential students, current students, PIs and internal staff. Act as first contact for all queries regarding students.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Undergraduate degree OR have demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience
  • Experience working with students and coordinating events/programs
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating paperwork such as registration packages.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills; time management and organization skills; and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member.
  • Ability to cope with pressures and deadlines and adapt to evolving processes and procedures.
  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities and projects with conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and high quality.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent computer skills: Zoom platform with experience hosting meetings, Microsoft Windows, MS Office Suite 2000: Word, Excel, Access and Outlook, Audiovisual equipment, etc. Ability to learn new software and a strong competency in excel is an asset.
  • Experience with WordPress would be an asset.
  • Should have background working in an team setting. Strong customer service and patience for repetitive questions
