Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare weekly schedules for staff and freelance employees that satisfy team leaders' daily requirements and meet management approval.
  • Distribute approved schedules to managers, leaders, and all individual employees, updating as necessary when changes are required
  • Calculate and submit overtime and penalties on a weekly basis
  • Calculate and submit freelance hours and independent contractor invoices
  • Track and accrue overtime, statutory holidays, and vacations
  • Log and advise managers on leave requests, vacation, and illnesses
  • Maintain work records
  • Ability to handle after hours absence calls and scheduling emergencies is a requirement

Critical Qualifications:


  • Sound understanding of the staffing demands of a 24hour news organization
  • Superior organizational, planning, and work prioritization skills
  • Ability to compose clear, logical, concise communications readily understood
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet fixed deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Previous scheduling experience in a multifunctional environment
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information
  • Proven ability to work well independently
  • Previous experience scheduling union teams and nonunion teams
  • Strong mathematical and problemsolving ability
  • Intermediate MS Excel (Vlookup, PivotTable) and Intermediate MS Outlook
  • Proficiency with Xytech MediaPulse is an asset
  • Proven discretion and respect for confidential information
