Description

The VP Networks and Security position has responsibilities for designing, building and operating customer and internal networks in a high growth, dynamic 24x7x365, always on environment.

The role requires a blend of leadership and management skills, technical knowledge, project management and industry awareness.

The role's mandate is to ensure our networks support our customer and employee needs across the country and lines of business especially data center/colocation cloud and AI services.

A secondary but equally important function is to lead the cybersecurity program at Hut 8 following best practices in threat and risk management, compliance and vulnerability management programs.

The role requires experience in entrepreneurial environments with demonstrated success in scaling organizations in a hands-on capacity.

Experience Required

Minimum of 15 years in rapid growth environments moving from low to medium/high level of overall maturity
Service provider and crypto markets experience preferred
Routing and switching hardware and protocols
Extensive telecommunications carrier experience spanning products including IP transit, peering, ethernet, dark fiber and DWDM offerings
Experience with storage and Infiniband networks preferred
Publicly traded environments experience along with compliancebased organizations aligning to SOC 2, type 2, ISO 27001, PCI and SOX standards
Familiarity with provincial, state and federal level security compliance programs
Knowledge of privacy frameworks including but not limited to GDPR and PIPEDA
Vulnerability management solutions
Centralized authentication platforms
Security platforms/services such as firewalls, SIEMs, MDR offerings, endpoint protection
Close partnering with front line support/service teams on fault management, monitoring, troubleshooting and provisioning
Capacity management
Vendor contract negotiations
Budgeting
Project management
