Main Purpose & Function

This Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the supervision, and maintenance work, repair and upgrades necessary for the safe and efficient operation of building systems.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safe and Efficient operations
  • Supervising the work of staff and external contractors to ensure compliance to regulations, schedules and technical standards for equipment and systems such as but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, pumps and control systems
  • Developing of work plans; adapting work methods to address issues and follow best practices
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Estimating and requisitioning materials
  • Assisting in the development of and coordinating the implementation of a preventative maintenance program for a physical plant and other equipment
  • Calibrating controls including DDC
  • Customer service and other related duties as required. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of courses in the technical specialty and considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Fourth Class Power Engineer Certificate or equivalent/higher is required. Sound related experience in the maintenance of HVAC equipment and of Worksafe BC indoor air quality regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building system components and related installations.
  • Considerable knowledge of building systems and the provincial regulations governing operations.
  • Experience managing projects and the work of others
  • Ability to supervise the work of subordinates performing related work.
  • Ability to operate and adjust equipment and automated control systems (DDC) such as Delta and Reliable controls, make complex repairs and replace components.
  • Ability to develop work plans, adapt work methods and estimate materials.
  • Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports.
  • Skill in the care and use of tools and testing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software is preferred.
  • Good sound judgement and effective interpersonal skills

  • Copy of your threeyear ICBC Commercial Driver's Abstract (N Print) directly from ICBC dated within 30 days of this posting
  • Copy of your threeyear ICBC Driver's Claims History directly from ICBC within 30 days of this posting
  • If you have less than three years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out of province/country abstract and claims history
