About the role


Reporting to the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Retail Advice & Solutions, this role is accountable for driving strategic and business planning and analysis for RA&S.

This role will also support management reporting, forecasting, and the transformation of our planning process, while being responsible for driving new financial insights to deliver value creation.

A key objective is to analyze and enhance financial performance through optimization of business drivers.

The role will partner with the Sun Life RA&S leadership team helping to identify, prioritize and execute on optimization of strategic priorities from a financial perspective.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead financial analysis including financial planning, forecasting, business insights and decision support within the RA&S Finance team
  • Identify opportunities to unlock value within or across the business by partnering with other areas, leading data and analytics from a financial perspective
  • Work with partners to identify financial optimization opportunities under IFRS 17; lead the implementation of these opportunities
  • Manage and advise on various initiatives, including reviews of business cases and deep dives into certain areas of the business. Work in collaboration with business and functional areas to analyze business profitability and potential optimization opportunities
  • Continuous improvement mindset, supporting finance and actuarial partners within RA&S to optimize processes and adopt new tools/technologies
  • Support the quarterly business review and quarterly financial reporting process for RA&S, working with partners including: Finance, Actuarial, Pricing/Profitability, ALM, Risk, Capital

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Business mindset with desire to drive business value
  • 10 to 15+ years experience with Financial Services industry; Insurance preferred
  • FSA, FCIA, CPA, MBA or CFA qualifications would be beneficial; actuarial knowledge/experience is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to work across multiple functions and business groups
  • Connects the big picture, understands the business and manages complexity across deliverables
  • Drives for results, optimizes work processes and aligns work to outcomes
