Position Summary:


Reporting to the Maintenance Area Lead, the Technician - Electrical role will work in close collaboration with operating technicians, all Maintenance personnel, and the NWR engineering and reliability team in operating and maintaining NWR's electrical equipment.


Responsibilities:


  • Performs inspections, execute preventive maintenance tasks and identify continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Ensures regulatory compliance for electrical equipment is maintained;
  • Supports maintenance planning and scheduling activities;
  • Supports the Maintenance team by providing input into Equipment Asset Care Plan strategy;
  • Criticality definitions;
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA);
  • Spare parts analysis;
  • Defining and planning routine and turnaround maintenance activities;
  • Developing and validation of procedures;
  • Provides plant support during run and maintain and turnaround phases of the refinery;
  • Prepares electrical equipment for inspection, cleaning, repair and reinstall;
  • Ensures that all electrical equipment maintenance, trouble shooting and repair activities are carried out in a planned, efficient, and safe manner following NWR practices and policies;
  • Leads and assures that proper safety practices are followed, uses personal protective gear, barricades, warning signs and devices to protect others;
  • Participates in and provides on the job training and competency assessments;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR's Core Competencies to drive results and a high performing culture;
  • Electrical Journeymen with Red Seal certification;
years of refinery, upgrader or petro-chemical facilities, experience;

  • High and Medium Voltage, Power Management System (PMS), UPS, Motor Analysis, Generator, PLC, Protection Relay, and Network Communications experience is desirable;
  • Must be a selfstarter with proven ability to make comprehensive decisions;
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and vendor drawings including OEM manuals, isometric and blue prints;
  • Excellent communications both in verbal and written format to establish clear goals and manage desired outcomes;
  • Ability to coach, develop and mentor others; strong leadership skills;
  • Must be comfortable working in a field environment.
