Reporting to the
SMARTech Occupational Therapist,
Major Responsibilities:
- Helps the SMARTech OT promote, restore, maintain, and/or enhance a research participant's functioning (mobility, selfcare, productivity, leisure, daytoday activities).
- Provides input for the modification of care plans
- Facilitates programs to assist research participants to attain their occupational performance goals (selfcare, productivity, leisure)
- Reports relevant observations regarding a participant's condition and documents changes in the health record.
- Helps manage SMARTech equipment safety and inventory.
- Provides safe and proficient delivery of activities in participant's treatment plans for participants coping with limitations in occupational performance and/or functional movement.
- Collaborates with staff and the research participant's personal support circle to help residents achieve optimal levels of physical, affective, and cognitive abilities.
- Works collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary health and research teams.
- Assists with and implements treatment programs and rehabilitative therapeutic interventions prescribed by the SMARTech OT.
- In conjunction with the care team, incorporates mobility maintenance strategies into the care
- Reports research participant progress to the SMARTech OT and the nursing team
- Creates/ maintains a schedule for seeing residents and other duties with the support of the OT
- Promotes the safety of participants (e.g. educates staff and residents, monitors equipment)
- Checks and calibrates Roho mattresses and cushions
- Processes requests to obtain equipment.
- Diploma in Occupational Therapist Assistant Program
- One to two years of relevant work experience
- Long term care experience is considered an asset
- An aptitude for technology and problem solving.
- Knowledge of the following: Medical Terminology, Therapeutic Equipment, Risk Management Procedures, Falls Prevention Methods, Proper Body Mechanics, Therapeutic Procedures, Computer Literacy
- Excellent Communication, Organization, Interpersonal, and Problem Solving skills.
- Must be Patient, Supportive, Empathetic, Positive Attitude, Respectful and Professional
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
Salary:
As per the Northwood Scale
Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly (3-12 hour shifts)
