Opportunity:


The
Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all vendor invoices are paid on a timely basis, in order to provide an accurate account of the company's payable liability.

This role pays the respective vendors on a predetermined payment schedule and addresses vendor and other co-workers inquiries regarding payments.


This is role is currently a 18-month contract, with full time hours.

  • Standard Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, 40 hours per week

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Processes invoices and reconciles accounts
  • Scans copies of documents through scanner and saves to the appropriate holding folder
  • Completes cheque runs (e.g. audits files on payment registers, sends audited files for approval, generates payments by cheque or direct deposit)
  • Creates new vendors in Finance system as necessary to facilitate timely payment to vendors
  • Enters employee expenses and makes adjustments to expense reports as required
  • Adjusts purchase orders that were received but not invoiced
  • Reviews unpaid older items as to the reason the items remain unpaid
  • To go, above and beyond, when necessary to ensure the team's success, credibility and accuracy of work is exceeding expectations
  • To perform other related duties as required.

What You Need to be Successful in the Role:

  • College diploma
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products and strong computer skills
  • 6 months to 1 year of relevant working experience
  • Accounting courses considered to be an asset
  • Good communication skills dealing with external and internal customers
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Effective problem solving ability
  • Good time management skills
  • Customer service focus
