The Department of Statistical Sciences is one of the top ten statistics departments in North America, with our faculty developing numerous important innovations in statistical science.

Our mission is to serve as a centre of excellence for statistical and actuarial research and education, across the campus, nationally and internationally.

Research is centered on excellence in theory and methods, as many faculty members in the department have very successful collaborative research programs.

Central to our vision for the next five years is to strengthen our national and international reputation in collaborative scientific activity, without compromising our core strengths.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries, and providing detailed information to students on program and/or course requirements. Writing routine documents and correspondence.
  • Checking course prerequisites prior to student enrolment.
  • Coordinating examination timetables and marking calculations. Troubleshooting timetabling and/or room booking conflicts. Coordinating program schedules with stakeholders,
  • Providing detailed information regarding financial awards.
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars, workshops and student events.
  • Providing detailed information to committee members on petition and/or appeal rules, guidelines and procedures. Taking and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Maintaining information on a website.

  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with students providing information on different academic issues/programs; excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated advanced level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Solid working knowledge of ROSI, ROSI Express and Degree Explorer and/or other related student information system. Advanced skills with web page editing (preferably CMS). Excellent problemsolving, coordination and administrative skills. Excellent time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and faculty. Detailed oriented and accuracy.
