The Strategy & Research Assistant will provide support to the strategic planning team working on the developing the YMCA of Greater Toronto's next five-year strategic plan.

The focus will be on supporting the development of the strategic framework and advancing the Association's work in key areas across the GTA.

The position will involve reviewing documents and internal data, conducting background research, writing reports and coordinating and participating in engagement meetings.


In this role, you will:


  • Conduct primary research, write briefing notes and provide administrative support to the strategic planning team.
  • Support the development and implementation of the YMCA of Greater Toronto's next fiveyear strategic year plan.
  • Support meetings, workshop and data collection with members, volunteer and program team by organizing logistics, prepare materials and document results.
  • Summarize research and evaluation findings, help make them actionable for the YMCA and prepare compelling presentations, dashboards and data visualizations to share them with management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across different departments within the YMCA of Greater Toronto to gather feedback on strategic initiatives and assist in the refinement and optimization of the organization's strategic plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Canada Summer Jobs Requirements**:


  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada

You bring:


  • Postsecondary education at the late undergraduate or preferably graduate level, in business administration, public administration, or social sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge or previous experience with organizational strategy, community engagement, social innovation, process improvement or design thinking is an asset
  • Previous quantitative and qualitative research experience is an asset
  • Ability to organize and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management and multitasking skills
  • Dependable, detailoriented and thorough
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and nonvisible dimensions of diversity
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
