The Position
We're looking for an
Researcher, Data Governance and Management to fill a full-time permanent position.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., data management, information science, indigenous studies, social sciences)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related field
  • Experience working with Indigenous Nations or organizations is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with relevant data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis techniques
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and respectful engagement practices
  • Indigenous language or French would be an asset, but not required

Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with Indigenous Nations and organizations to develop and implement Indigenous Data Sovereignty initiatives
  • Work with the Data Governance and Management team to develop data governance strategies and policies in partnership with Indigenous Nations
  • Conduct research on data policy and plans related to data governance and management
  • Provide research support for projects within the Data Governance and Management department
  • Support the development of guidance on best practices in data governance
  • Analyze and evaluate existing data governance frameworks and identify areas for improvement
  • Monitor and stay updated on emerging trends and developments in data governance and management

Relevant Skills:


  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles, frameworks, and methods
  • Proficiency in data policy analysis and development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
