- Authenticate standard and non-standard designs per regulatory requirements, the Engineering Act, APEGA, and other external agencies.
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the P&C wildfire mitigation program under the direction of the team lead, coordinating with Early Fault Detection, fuse replacement, recloser replacement, and asset management programs.
- Develop and Support Standards for
- A strong working knowledge of electrical protection design.
- Demonstrated ability in using MS Office applications.
- Previous experience using technical and graphical software is an asset.

Under the direction of the Sr.
Lead Engineer Protection and Control, the Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer will perform research, design and development of new and existing protection devices, methods, standards and policies for Procurement, Distribution Projects, and Asset Maintenance.
This position will also provide interpretation and guidance around technical, process and contractual requirements related to projects as well as support Design Specialist Technologists for external and internal customer projects as required.
Develop andTest Setting Templates:
Develop, design, and test setting templates for protective devices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Commission Protective Relays:
Assist with testing and commissioning of protective relays on-site or through remote office support, while efficiently resolving relay-specific concerns.
Support Advanced Control Systems:
Support and maintain control devices in Microgrids, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), voltage regulators, and Dynamic Var compensation (DVAR).
Ensure these systems are effectively designed and integrated into the utility network by working with cross-functional teams to align with industry standards.
Utilize Engineering Software:
Leverage engineering software and productivity tools to analyze technical and statistical data, facilitate project delivery, and solve technical issues associated with line and equipment design.
Wildfire Risk Reduction:
Contribute to the development and implementation of standards and protocols that minimize wildfire risks while enhancing equipment reliability in high-risk regions.
Provide Technical Guidance:
Offer technical guidance on wildfire mitigation efforts, encompassing training, compliance, and safety protocols, while adhering to the program's direction.
Special Projects:
Undertake special projects and other duties as required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple and diverse components of a project concurrently.
Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; Those registered as an Engineer-in-Training with APEGA with 3 years of engineering experience may also be considered.
