General Accountability:


  • Reporting to Director Project Controls and Risk, the Manager
  • Risk is responsible for developing, managing and improving the risk management program and analysing risks for the ECE capital program projects.
  • Please be advised that this is not an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Financial, Audit, IT Security or Safety Risk position.

Key Job Functions:


  • Managing and improving upon the risk management program that provides planned, systematic project risk management support, oversight and direction to EC&E capital program and projects;
  • Implementing and sustaining the overall risk management procedures, systems and practices, and ensuring alignment with corporate directives, standards and industry best practices;
  • Establishing performance indicators and monitoring progress to overall plans;
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, PMO functional managers and EC&E Management to understand and support the capital project portfolio, and tailoring the risk management approach to project categorizations and requirements of the project teams;
  • Managing the risk management database, developing risk data management requirements/instructions to ensure data integrity and timely/accurate reporting;
  • Ensuring timely reporting on critical and highly sensitive risks pertaining to cost, schedule, safety, reputational matters and/or sensitive issues to senior management, and discussing issues and problems as required;
  • Promoting a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

  • Plan and organize activities / projects to meet section and organizational goals
    Education and Experience:
  • University degree in a related discipline (e.g. engineering, business), plus several years of directly related experience as a risk professional in a project management and engineering environment or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in the identification, analysis, management and mitigation of risks that would be associated with large and complex infrastructure programs and projects;
  • Experience with the configuration and administration of risk management software and sound knowledge of data management;
  • Must have or acquire PMI-RMP professional certification or the equivalent.
  • Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.

Additional Requirements:


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide written reports and presentations that accurately and clearly summarize issues and present solutions in an understandable and logical manner;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and demands in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must complete applicable safety training. Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
