Dispatch Manager (12 Months Temporary Position)

_Purpose:
_Oversees the day-to-day operations of planning and Dispatch activities to balance the company service and financial objectives. In conjunction with the Area Manager is accountable for the financial performance of the business dispatched by their team. Establishes processes and routines to ensure productive and profitable use of equipment and manpower resources.

The dispatch Manager acts as a primary escalation point for customers and internal stakeholders with respect to service andoperationalperformanceissues.**
This role reports to the Area Manager and is a 12-month Temporary position.

People:

Selects, trains, andonboards dispatcher and load planners
Conductsemployeeperformance evaluations,establishes goals, and resolves performance issues
Establishes employee schedules toensure appropriate coverage and service requirements
Assistsand coachesdispatchersin the management of driver performance and relationships
Ensures a positive team environment between customers, drivers, and dispatchers
Communicatesand provides constructive feedback as required

Financial

Accountable for the financial performance of the business dispatched by their team
Ensuresachievement of key performance indicators (i.e. Revenue mile%,RCR, cost per mile)
Identifiesopportunities for increasedprofitability
Supports the Area Manager in thedevelopment of the budget

Customers

In conjunction with the Terminal Manager, participates in weekly service and safety reviews
Primary escalation point for service and operational performance issues
In conjunction with the Service Delivery team, establishes communication protocols with customers
Order entry, status reporting, exception management, notifications

Knowledge/Skills:

Three to five years of related experience and/or training
Sound knowledge of the transportation industry
Experience in bulk commodities is desirable
Excellent communication and managerial skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
