PURPOSE and SCOPE


A Tine Tube Cell Operator at MacDon Industries operates the tine tube cell punching machine and automatic welding machine to conduct the welding of parts to tubes, in order to meet the required production schedule.

This position loads parts into position using a clamp, then presses the weld machine button to produce tine tube parts for the reel tubes of the swathes.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities that this position must focus on, must achieve and must excel at:

  • Produce tine tubes using the punch/cutting machine; at the weld stage, jigs are loaded and parts are clamped into place. The product is finished when all sharp edges have been sanded.
  • Works from drawings/blueprints, as well as the written instructions, of the operation sheet.
  • Responsible for the proper feeds and speed of different material and tools to maximize the quality of productivity.
  • Ability to recognize when tooling requires sharpening or has been damaged and to notify department supervision.
  • Receive general instructions from supervisor, Charge Hand, and Lead Hand.
  • Responsible for quality, assured by frequent inspections of one's work.
  • Work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:


  • Extreme temperatures (heat/cold).
  • High noise levels.
  • Fumes, vapors, and gases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working in a Welding Environment is an asset.
  • Must be experienced in and have a proven understanding of drawings and written instructions in the OMS.
  • Successful completion of all MacDon prescreening assessments.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Know and understand the WHMIS labeling system.
  • Must have ability to operate/and use hand, air and measuring tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Good handeye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Clear communication (understanding written and verbal cues).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the following physical requirements:
  • Physically able to lift up to 47 pounds. Refer to the MacDon Safety Manual.
  • Physically able to twist and bend frequently.
  • Physically able to walk and/or stand for 8 hours.
  • Maintain a good attendance record and comply with company rules and regulations.
  • Able to understand and communicate information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Able to do shift work (rotating shifts).
