Reporting to the LRT Systems Maintenance Supervisor, the LRT Systems Maintenance and Project Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, administration and coordination of both the maintenance activities and the capital projects for the signals, traction power and catenary systems.

This position will work closely with engineering and maintenance to provide maintenance planning, project coordination, procurement support, inventory management and perform SAP functions such as plant maintenance entries/reports, and project systems work along.


Responsible for ensuring that maintenance, construction, renovation and rehabilitation projects and/or programs and repairs are completed on time, within the identified scope, and within budget.

This includes planning and coordinating work activities in a manner that will maximize the amount of work being completed while minimizing the service impact to Edmonton Transit Service Customers.

  • Develops long range and short range maintenance plans while having a line of sight on other conflicting activities, planning around staffing/resource shortages and planning for the related impacts to other teams, other infrastructure and to LRT service
  • Providing real time tracking of maintenance effort/hours/progress/expenses while providing monthly estimates and projections
  • Offer service improvement, innovations and ways to Improve workforce productivity/efficiency and LRT system availability/reliability
  • Maintain good working relationships through collaboration with the Systems forepersons/crews, Systems Engineering and other City Stakeholders
  • Ensure tool and material inventories are meeting the demand of forecasted work
  • Provide incident reporting, system damage reports and submissions internal/external related to incident reporting
  • Conduct periodic site inspections with field level staff to maintain a good understanding of the infrastructure including condition and operations
  • Work with the LRT Systems forepersons and external vendors to develop project estimates (schedule and cost) by understanding cost/schedule implications of labour, fleet, material supply, external contractors, permits, etc.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and facilitate communication between the project manager and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle
  • Liaise with external vendors and internal services to negotiate and facilitate delivery, supply of goods and services needed for projects
  • Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
  • Ensure compliance to City of Edmonton purchasing guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Conduct research for new components and suppliers equal or better to ensure competitive pricing and schedule

Qualifications:


  • Diploma in a technical field with 4 years experience of project coordination/maintenance planning
OR

  • Degree in a technical field with 2 years experience of project coordination/maintenance planning
  • Intermediate
- advanced level proficiency with SAP

  • Knowledge of Edmonton Transit Service Operations and Systems
  • Knowledge of Gantt chart software, and enterprise software
  • Proficient with creating and using Google Sheets and Google Documents
  • Customer service focus with excellent communication skills to effectively interact, communicate, influence, and collaborate with a variety of partners and stakeholders including senior management, other City of Edmonton staff, and contractors
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving, and conflict management skills
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills, with proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage competing priorities
  • Safety focused with knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Maintenance or construction experience with track, electrical and communications systems
  • Ability to obtain B-Book certification
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
  • Strong project coordination skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (Project Management Body of Knowledge best practices)
  • Ability to create accurate and complete job hazard analysis, site reports and other written documentation
  • Ability to identify project risks and recommend controls and contingency plans
  • Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position.
