We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to join our team in Toronto.

Reporting to the Vice President (VP), Business Development Solutions the Business Development Consultant is responsible for growing the portfolio of National Enterprise clients in the large market space.

The Business Development Consultant is responsible for achieving sales results, finding, and qualifying leads, and bringing new business opportunities to close.


The Business Development Consultant will:


  • Grow the portfolio of National Enterprise clients in the large market space
  • Achieve sales results, finding, and qualifying leads, and bringing new business opportunities to close
  • Achieve approved sales goals and targets
  • Manage the endtoend sales cycle of group insurance
  • Identify opportunities for the sale of services from within the existing suite of products and services
  • Actively searches for and identifies new clients for products and services
  • Analyze client strategic needs and recommends options that will meet the prospective client's needs
  • Introduce an Account Management team to work with the client postsale and remains, where appropriate, the Client Relationship Lead
  • Present, coordinate and review all proposals and finalist materials
  • Ensure that all sales data and information is tracked accurately and in a timely manner, using the PRM system
  • Prepare and deliver onsite presentations
  • Project a respectful, positive, professional image and presence to the client and industry at all times

To be successful
as a
Business Development Consultant with People Corporation, you will need**:

  • 4-5 years of group insurance experience specifically in business development
  • Postsecondary education and training in commerce, sales & marketing required
  • Knowledge of group benefits, group retirement and related financial and wellness product and services
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle
  • Experience in lead generation, stages of sales, closing and procuring new business in B2B settings
  • Track record in successfully meeting sales targets and objectives
  • Exceptional sales, business, and financial acumen
  • Strong, innovative sales and marketing skills plus the ability to market organizational strengths successfully
  • Exceptional active listening skills and ability to discern prospective pain points and needs.
  • Exceptional communication skills demonstrated through compelling sales presentations and client interactions
  • Thorough knowledge of group insurance, retirement and related product sales and client service and support
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the projection of a professional image and style
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal service providers such as; Account Team, Marketing, Underwriting and Pricing, Finance, Service Managers, Practice Leads and others
  • Completion of formal sales and presentation training
  • Challenger Sales and / or Consultative Selling background
