    Description

    The purpose of Facilities Maintenance is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems to support the smooth functioning of airport operations.

    As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician - Apprentice , you will work as part of a dynamic multi-trade team, gaining hands-on experience and technical skills in repairing and maintaining heavy-duty equipment.

    Diagnose, repair, adjust, overhaul, maintain, operate and test heavy duty machinery in use by the Vancouver Airport Authority which includes, but is not limited to:
    emergency response vehicles, fire trucks, heavy trucks, runway/apron sweepers, tractors, graders, loaders, excavators and backhoes, plows and forklifts, and miscellaneous ancillary equipment and accessories

    Red seal certification as an automotive service technician, supplemented by at least three years of related journeyperson experience
    Ability to work in a team environment that includes a rotating dayshift, as well as independently with minimal supervision
    Valid Class 5 BC driver's license, preference will be given to those with a Class 1, 2, or 3 license
    The required hours of work are 40 hours per week, based on a rotational shift schedule.
    Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
