    Position Overview

    Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine-Division of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology
    Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) and the University of Ottawa

    We are seeking a qualified Anatomical Pathologist with Molecular Pathology Fellowship to join our Division of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology Reference Laboratory at the Ottawa Hospital and our team operating the department's state-of-the-art molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory which includes NGS platforms for assessing solid and hematologic malignancies in support of precision medicine and clinical trials.

    The minimum requirements to apply include a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, eligibility for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (see ), Royal College of Physicians (Canada) certification and/or equivalent board certification in Anatomical Pathology, and additional board certification/eligibility in Molecular Pathology or Molecular Genetics. In addition to signing out molecular pathology reports, the candidate will be expected to participate in diagnostic pathology in her/his area(s) of expertise. The Division operates a subspecialty-based practice with a high proportion of GI, GU, Gynecology and Breast cases, and the Reference Laboratory processes collectively more than 80,000 surgical pathology specimens and 20,000 cytology specimens per year.

    The candidate will have academic appointment at the University of Ottawa and is expected to participate in collaborative research and teaching activities. Rank will be commensurate with experience according to the University Guidelines. Salary and benefits accord with Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for pathologists in Ontario, currently CAD 367,000.

    Basic Requirements

    As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

    EORLA operates 18 regional hospital-based licensed clinical laboratories across the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) of Eastern Ontario including the Ottawa Hospital and the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The laboratory staff includes over 725 Medical Laboratory Professionals, 70 Medical/Scientific staff and 15 Pathology Residents.
