Program Summary

The Lux is two programs in one: a transitional housing program and a long-term housing program. While each program has specific staff, both staff teams work together so everyone at the Lux can access a variety of programming. Staff use a strength-based approach to identify, acknowledge, and build on each individual's strengths, skills, and competencies. The Lux staff hold tenant-driven events and activities to help establish connections and link tenants to community-based resources. The Lux is a harm reduction program utilizing a strength-based approach in our interactions with the people who live in the building. The goal of the Lux is to provide safe and affordable housing to the Downtown Eastside community, and all participants have access to harm reduction supplies and education including access to peer witness overdose response space.

Transitional Housing units are available to people who have mental and physical health issues that require support, have a history of homelessness, reoccurring hospital, or shelter visits.

The Lux transitional housing applies a housing first strength-based approach to supporting program participants with a focus on relationship building and service planning.

Supports include service panning, access to a medication program, 24-hour staff support, meal program, and more.

Independent Housing suites are allocated to people who are independent with low income and face barriers to housing, such as substance use, mental and physical health issues.
