Basic Function:


The Project Coordinator is responsible for all site activities including planning, scheduling, organizing, overseeing and directing subcontractors, equipment, materials, site safety, quality and resources.

Capable of direct supervision of self-performing workforce when necessary.

Provides skills, knowledge and expertise to manage day to day tasks and oversees the total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed on time and on budget while adhering to the design, specifications and regulatory agencies.

The Project Coordinator brings a high ethical approach to this position and works in a team orientated environment. Promotes a positive atmosphere and a professional work environment with effective communication. The Project Coordinator will have strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for site coordination of manpower requirements, quality control, subtrade coordination, short and longterm scheduling, safety administration, cost control and reporting.
  • Assisting the Project Manager with administrative functions and processes.
  • Generates and tracks project deliverables.
  • Prepares accurate project submissions as required by the contract.
  • Identifies, prepares and submits detailed RFC/RFI, NCR, etc.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and conflict resolution.
  • Determines and implements construction methodology, manpower requirements, material needs, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documentation of hours worked.
  • Responsible for efficient use of labour, equipment and materials.
  • Creative and innovative. Competent in decision making and judgement calls.
  • Monitors job progress, production and provides regular reporting to senior management.

  • Understands Sierra's Quality Control Plan and aids in its implementation.
  • Develops and maintains good and positive relations with clients, owners, consultant, public, etc.
  • Represents Sierra well.
  • Promotes a safe work site, enforces safety and work regulation policies, initiates disciplinary actions if necessary to ensure compliance to Sierra's policies and provincial regulations.
  • Reads, understands and adheres to contract documents, drawings and specifications. Ensures all work is conducted and completed in compliance with contractual documents and applicable standards.
  • Communication plans, actions, risks and issues with key stakeholders.
  • Analyzing project data and producing progress reports.
  • Ensuring documentation is maintained throughout duration of the project.

Knowledge:


  • Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and disciplines, production and cost control, scheduling, safety policies and regulations and engineering requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction engineering and design (i.e. formwork, hoisting, access, soils).
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Acts & Regulations (i.e. Const. Act, Lien Act, G.C., etc.).
  • Knowledge of type of contracts.
  • Knowledge of impact of changes on cost and schedule.
  • Knowledge of union contracts and procedures.
  • Knowledge of company policies.
  • Knowledge of company quality management system.

Skills:


  • Ability to lead and manage a large group, attract, hire and develop workers.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate a selfperforming workforce and multiple trades of all sizes.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop solutions. Value analysis and engineering.
  • Ability to identify potential extra work note defined in our scope of work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and motivate the workforce.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Ability to create work plans and specific safe work procedures.
  • Ability to assume different roles when required.
  • Ability to solve any issues that may arise during the project.

Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated experience in the construction industry.
  • Usually 10+ years experience.
  • Civil Engineering University an asset.
  • Construction Technology degree an asset.
  • Field related certification.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Woodstock, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
