    Program Coordinator CS


This position is responsible for new and existing education programming, quality instruction, student success and satisfaction, general operations and business development in the program area for which the position is accountable.

The position seeks out new program opportunities, creating, modifying, and maintaining quality courses, programs and activities to meet the ever-changing needs of individual learners, business, and the community.

The position will develop credible and meaningful relationships with business and the community ensuring strictest confidentiality.

This position reports to the Dean of Continuing Studies, and works together with the Dean to identify opportunities and resolve concerns.

The position handles multiple responsibilities, solves complex problems and provides leadership, supervision, and direction to Instructors in the program area, in alignment with the mission and vision of the College.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • 1. Program Research Conduct market research and needs assessment.
  • Develop and maintain professional contacts.
  • Liaise with professional associations/advisory committees.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with business, industry and community organizations to identify and assess their training needs.
  • Identify and develop alternate delivery opportunities.
  • Cooperate with other Program Coordinators to maximize program opportunities and eliminate duplication and overlap.
  • Program Development/Implementation/Evaluation- Develop/create courses and programs to meet the needs of business, industry and the community.
  • Design/initiate curriculum with the Senior Program Coordinator as required, according to College governance policies and standards.
  • Identifies and manages course materials/supplies/software/equipment/facilities required.
  • Customize programs and courses for contract training needs with the Senior Program Coordinator.
  • Provide all information to the Senior Program Coordinator and/or Operations Manager to operationalize all new programs.
  • Review course/program/instructor evaluations.
  • Utilize statistical reports to plan, modify or cancel programs and courses.
  • Staffing- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation and performance management of assigned instructional staff.
  • Supervise assigned instructional staff.
  • Establish instructor contracts and pay rates, as per CS policies.
  • Recommend pay rates and criteria.
  • Collaborate with other Program Coordinators to ensure consistency.
  • Oversee development and delivery of course curricula as per VCC governance policies.
  • Budgetary Responsibilities- Manage program area budget in order to meet targets/operating margins as established by the Operations Manager.
  • Work with Operations Manager to resolve budget issues and discrepancies.
  • Analyze monthly financial information as provided by the Operations Manager and adjust planning as appropriate.
  • Utilize financial information to plan, modify or cancel courses or programs working with the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure invoicing for contract training and authorizes instructor time sheets.
  • Marketing- Determine and define the various target markets pertinent to the program area.
  • Prepare course descriptions and writeups.
  • Promote department activities internally and externally.
  • Develop and run regularly scheduled information sessions and attend all collegewide promotional events.
  • Customer Service- Represent the department on internal and external committees/organizations.
  • Resolve those customer complaints/inquiries that cannot be dealt with by front line staff.
  • Meet with and advise prospective students in relation to educational and career options.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Education and Experience

  • A Two (2) Year Diploma from a recognized educational institution in the program area for which the position is responsible.
