Description
Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences seek an Environmental Support Worker to perform service routines in the Centre.

The position entails duties that will need to be performed in the Housekeeping, Laundry/Linen, Waste, Transportation Services & Switchboard departments as an Environmental Support Worker.


Typical functions include but are not limited to, disinfection and general cleaning of surfaces, maintenance of floors, processing of soiled and clean linens, delivery of food carts and linen carts, general deliveries and movement of waste throughout organization, maintaining of supplies and stocking of such, as well as other project work as assigned.


Requirements:


  • Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required
  • Experience in cleaning methodology is required
  • Healthcare cleaning experience is an asset
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and weekends as required, including statutory holidays
  • Sound knowledge of chemicals, methods and standards for cleanliness and sanitation required
  • Must have knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. WHMIS; familiarity and knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to maintain good attendance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the team.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position walk for extended periods; pushing, pulling and lifting moderately heavy to heavy loads (30 to 50lbs); bending and stretching; climbing on & off equipment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills ability to carry out office procedures such as answering the phone, dispatching duties, scheduling pickup and delivery services, working knowledge of MS Office.
