What do Movement Centre Rehabilitation Assistants (aka Conductive Education Assistants) Do?


Under the direction and with the guidance of the program leader, CEAs work one-on-one with children and adults who have neurological motor disorders in our Conductive Education (CE) classes, helping them gain/regain mobility, confidence, and independence.

Our unique therapy is conducted in a group environment, so our CEAs are an integral part of a dynamic team of like-minded individuals who use their knowledge of body mechanics and ability to motivate and encourage others to help our clients reach their full potential.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist facilitation of the delivery of CE rehabilitation by working directly people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities:
  • motivating, safeguarding, and assisting clients as they develop and practice functional life skills, techniques, and activities designed to meet their specific needs
- transferring clients
- assisting clients with toileting and feeding
- monitoring client conditions and progress during activities and reporting to the program leader

  • Set up classroom for specific clients/groups prior to the start of each class, clean classroom at the conclusion of class
  • Assist program leaders with preparation of program materials for clients
  • Report any incidents to program leaders and follow incident reporting procedures
  • Assist administrative staff with duties such as answering phone, photocopying, fundraising tasks, etc., as requested and time allows
  • Follow organization policies & procedures, including COVID19 safety measures

  • Be a student or graduate of a recognized kinesiology degree or rehabilitation assistant program
  • Have valid and current Security Checks (within 3 months preferred, conditional employment may be granted while checks are being processed):
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Be caring, compassionate, and committed to providing dignity and respect to all members of the public
  • Be a problemsolver, an outsideofthebox thinker, and a great communicator

The Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • You'll work in a fast-paced environment, with repetitive physical tasks, attention to detail is required
  • There is a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling
  • You must be able to lift/carry up to 80lbs (manual handling techniques, transferring and transporting clients and equipment)
