Reporting to the Director, Schedule Planning, this position will be responsible for design and development of future systemwide flight schedules for the Air Canada fleet.

This position plays an integral role in optimizing network profitability by meeting growth targets and defending our competitive position.

Roles & Responsibilities:

This is an important position within the Network Planning and Scheduling department that is responsible for managing network and schedule design:

  • Responsible for schedule integrity and design consistency for all periods
  • Build and continuously optimize future flight schedule for all Air Canada flying systemwide and look for opportunities to improve process design.
  • Ensure proper fleet deployment to produce maximum profitability based on fluctuating seasonal demand, airport infrastructure constraints, while understanding the unique fleet capabilities
  • Owner of hub structure design, ensuring optimal connectivity through the hubs, while achieving industry leading fleet utilization
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and adjust the operating plan to uphold Air Canada's market share on key competitive routes. Monitor industry changes and conduct industry benchmarking exercises on a regular basis to maintain flight schedule superiority
  • Own operational KPIs such as utilization, crewing efficiency by designing and regularly updating dashboards and working closely with Operational branches to improve results
  • Prepare and present analytics to senior executives with Network and Schedule changes/updates
  • Oversee the minimum connection time (MCT) rules for our network and for worldwide connection points
  • Manage relationships with Airports, Crewing, Maintenance Corporate Real Estate to minimize costs, optimize manpower plans, and maximize efficient use of infrastructure (slots, gates, hangar space)
  • Represent Air Canada externally in meetings with airport authorities and 3rd party stakeholders
  • Provide mentoring and feedback to others on the team
  • Manage and monitor slot utilization requirements for key worldwide airports. Understand and strategize Air Canada's future position in these key locations

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education required; Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics focus are an asset
  • 5+ years of work experience with 2 to 3 years of specific to airline scheduling, planning or revenue management, and demonstrated interest in aviation and airline business
  • High degree of creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness in the context of airline planning and scheduling function
  • Ability to translate strategic direction into seasonal schedule with strong insights
  • Ability to manage expectations of others, and influence key decision making situations
  • Problem solving skill and above average strategic thinking ability
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks with short deadlines
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
