Job Summary:

Responsibilities & Essential functions:

Determine material, machines, labour and process requirements, and use those to produce customer quotes
Assist other team members in sales, service and production through coordinating planning, fabrication and delivery of products
Compute cost factors and prepares estimates for management use in planning, manpower availability, equipment utilization, tooling needs and product cost
Interact with Sales, Purchasing, Production areas, and others to obtain and provide information necessary to resolve issues and establish accurate estimates
Establish setup and run rates and related cost data
Source all material and purchased parts for quotes
Work directly with Production Manager regarding capacity and scheduling
Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors and customers
Attend employee communication and safety talk meetings as required
Assist with the implementation of new initiatives within the business
Backup support for Project Management and Shop Purchaser
Perform other tasks as required

Requirements:

-
Minimum 5 years experience with estimating in the manufacturing and machining industry

Proficient in reading 2D & 3D drawings, including GD&T
Knowledge of methods/time studies and ability to calculate run rates and setup times
Knowledge of finishing processes (heat treating, plating, polishing, etc.)
Familiar with shop floor systems & machining equipment
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Have a working understanding of Health & Safety best practice and OH&S Legislation
Have a working understanding of the ISO 9001 quality management system
Have excellent organizational & time management skills; attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills and desire to accommodate requests
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated basic math abilities, strong interpersonal relations, negotiation skills
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience in Jobboss, Unipoint, Mastercam and Solidworks considered an asset
Gear box rebuild knowledge considered and asset
