- Physically fit, with stamina to perform the duties of the trade (which requires upper body strength, ability to lift heavy parts/equipment, and includes working in a standing position for long time periods, or bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching)
- Able to work in uncomfortable or confined positions on occasion
- Provide own hand tools relating to the trade according to provisions of the Collective Agreement
- Able to work a variety of scheduled shifts, including week-ends and nights, as per the Collective Agreement
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
- Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted "G" class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated. JOB SUMMARY
The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City of Ottawa.
You repair and replace vehicle parts such as body and underbody components, door/window frames, doors/windows. You paint vehicles and prepare surfaces for painting to achieve durable, attractive finishes using knowledge of how to treat different surfaces, such as steel, plastic, and aluminium and fibreglass. Employees in this job may work predominantly in either autobody repair or in autobody painting, or in both skill areas, as per work selected.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer apprenticeship program of 8000 hours
Minimum of 2 years of experience following attainment of certification.
Work experience performing body repairs on coaches, buses, or other heavy equipment is an asset
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
