Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(Includes but not limited to)

  • Coordinates automotive damage appraisals and repairs to obtain maximum utilization of the automotive fleet and to prevent operational delays. Uses estimating systems to ensure proper manufacturers' criteria and company damage repair guidelines.
  • Ensures all repairs are properly documented in accordance with company policy (estimates, repair/sell authorization). Makes recommendations on the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the repair of damaged vehicles utilizing a network of approved body shop vendors. Manages vendor relationships to ensure that vehicles are repaired in accordance with damage appraisals and to company standards (equipment, insurance, repair procedures, etc.).
  • Communicates with operations management in identifying collision damages and the proper reporting of damages.
  • Oversees repair part ordering and coordination of part delivery to body shops.
  • Partners with Manager, Turnback to ensure that manufacturer inspectors are accurate and consistent in their damage appraisal. Prepares salvage matrix based on established guidelines in determining vehicles nonrepairable.
  • Inspects all repaired vehicles upon return from repair shop to ensure all work meets company and manufacturer standards.
  • Reviews completed damage package for accuracy.
  • Ensures invoices are processed in a timely manner.

Responsibility Scope/Impact:

This job impacts the operation by ensuring customer and employee satisfaction and effective fleet utilization and incremental revenue generation. This job works within established guidelines and procedures exercising some independent judgment.


Qualifications:


  • High School Degree plus 24 years of college preferred (or equivalent in education, experience or training).
  • Minimum of 35 years of Damage Writer experience required; preferred in a serviceoriented field.
  • Effective supervisory, communication, organizational, and creative problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers and the public.
  • Ability to work regular working hours Monday to Friday.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of damage appraisal and estimating software.
