Co-op and Career Path Student - Transportation Engineering

8-Month Term

We're looking for passionate, energetic, and versatile Civil Engineering students to join our Transportation team for an 8-month Co-op and Career Path term. Kelowna and its transportation system is growing quickly. This position supports the Integrated Transportation Team by collecting and analyzing transportation data, collecting field measurements and supporting traffic engineering and transportation planning studies.

You will work with our transportation team on the following:

Transportation data collection, processing and reporting.

Mobilization and set-up of automated count equipment.

Traffic analysis using operational models and Excel.

Collision data analysis.

Writing reports and documentation and materials for presentation.

Preparation for and attendance at public consultation events.

Field visits, taking measurements and public surveys.

Working with AutoCAD drawings and GIS software.
Co-op positions run from May through December. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in and returning to school in the subsequent academic. Enrolment in a formal co-op program is not required.

Position qualifications include:

Valid BC Driver's License Class 5.

Must be physically able to perform all the duties required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge of MS Power BI, PowerQuery, ArcGIS and Python integration would be assets.

This assignment is for one four-month term and one eight-month term between May to December 2024. This is a CUPE bargaining unit position with an hourly rate of $23.35 to $25.31 per hour (depending on education) plus 14% in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays.
