  • POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advisor, Procurement oversees procurement processes used to acquire goods and services for the company.

This person must have a thorough understanding of the needs of the business unit in order to play an influential advisory role, to establish the acquisition strategy for each of the contracts under his or her supervision, to properly select suppliers as well as negotiate and prepare contracts.

The incumbent makes decisions that support BDC's business objectives based on BDC's risk appetite.

  • CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Procurement Process and Advisory Services- Advise internal clients on the best procurement approach for acquisitions that is appropriate for the business context and nature of the purchases within a context of prudent risk management while helping them to achieve benefits and savings and to avoid certain operational costs.- Lead simple procurement processes, contribute to strategic or complex procurement processes, act as the main point of contact for internal clients and ensure that processes are carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner.- Prepare, or help prepare, relevant documentation for the procurement process based on the nature of the required products and services and obtain the necessary contributions to complete the business requirements, service descriptions, service levels and parameters as well as security and privacy requirements.- Be proficient in the requirements contained in the Procurement Directive and applicable regulations to properly advise internal clients.- Carry out procurement processes in line with BDC's goals in terms of responsible purchasing (e.g. ESG) or purchasing targets from diverse and underrepresented communities or process improvement in general (e.g. strategic procurement).- Negotiate and prepare complex contracts with the support of more senior advisors.- Ensure the availability and regular updating of comprehensive documentation regarding contract terms and conditions in BDC's tools and systems, among others.- Prepare documentation and implement strategic procurement activities with support and coaching from the Senior Advisor.


Contract management- Draft and finalize contracts and contract amendments as necessary.- Support business units through business issues by facilitating problem resolution with suppliers.- Independently provide contractual information and interpretation for less complex business issues of low to moderate risk.


  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in administration or other relevant training.
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Ability to identify the best procurement strategies to meet business needs.
  • Interest in internal client operations and products and desire to contribute to BDC's business objectives.
  • Negotiation skills with both suppliers and internal clients.
  • Clearly and regularly communicates progress status and recommendations with both procurement colleagues and internal clients.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills in both official languages (English and French).
  • Experience in the purchase of goods and services in the information technology industry
