Your Opportunity:


The Edmonton Operational Stress Injury Clinic (EOSIC) is part of a national network of ten clinics responsible for providing treatment for mental health and substance related/addictive disorders to individuals and their families referred by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Department of National Defense.

Individuals referred to the clinic are experiencing work related trauma and stressor-related disorders (operational stress injuries (OSIs) such as PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction).

Services at the EOSIC are provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatry, Clinical Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Psychology.

The Quality Improvement Lead (QIL) works with the Care Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Program Evaluation Support Coordinator and clinicians (the Team) to enhance the clinical program by conducting literature reviews and evaluating clinic performance metrics to support the development of best and promising practices and evidence-based mental health and addiction services.

QI outcomes and results will also inform and contribute to the work of the Operational Stress Injury National Network (OSINN).

Primary responsibilities of this position include designing QI initiatives, establishing evaluation frameworks, planning, collecting, entering, processing and analyzing data, report writing and dissemination of results.


Description:

As a Research Assistant, you will be part of the Decision Support Services team which supports all aspects of research, evaluation, and performance management initiatives for Addiction and Mental Health, Edmonton Zone.

Using a wide range of specialized skills in the areas of evaluation, research, and performance management, you will support decision-makers and programs by providing services that support the development of best and promising practices and evidence-based addiction and mental health services.

The team works in collaboration with various stakeholders including clinical staff, management, and executives.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in the social or behavioural sciences, social work or health related field.

Education:
Master's degree in the social or behavioural sciences or health related field


Knowledge & Skills:
MS Office Suite; Quantitative (SPSS) and qualitative analysis software; broad range of health research/evaluation methodologies; program development tools; data collection and analysis; database construction and management; project management and coordination; analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to effectively explore alternatives to inform decisions; time management skills in managing multiple activities to accomplish results; ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities; to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting or in partnership with external stakeholders; to receive direction and respond constructively to feedback; effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; detail oriented; accurate report preparation and oral presentation; ability to convey information in a way that is acceptable to all stakeholders


Work Experience:

minimum 3 years in a quality improvement or research setting; program evaluation and/or performance measurement in health/social services setting; prior work in Addiction and Mental Health.
