    Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is an 84-bed healthcare facility located in Collingwood, Ontario, just a 90-minute drive north of Toronto. Serving more than 74,000 permanent residents and attracting 3.5 million annual visitors to the scenic communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview, and the Blue Mountains, CGMH offers a range of essential services including emergency care, diagnostic procedures, inpatient units, and specialized medical care in areas such as obstetrics, orthopaedics, and intensive care. Additionally, the hospital provides outpatient services, clinics, and rehabilitation programs, playing a vital role as an integrated orthopaedic center for the region.

    The Opportunity:

    The staff therapist serves as a vital member of a multidisciplinary team and assumes responsibility for managing all occupational therapy aspects of patient care. From assessing patients and designing care programs to educating individuals and overseeing occupational therapy assistants, the staff therapist plays a pivotal role in facilitating patient recovery and well-being.

    Qualifications:

    • Prior completion of 32 weeks of supervised clinical experience is mandatory before receiving a Master's in Occupational Therapy.
    • Must consistently create a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
    • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential for effective interaction with team members, patients, and families. Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
    • Basic computer literacy is required.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development is a must.
    • Ability to fulfill all essential job duties, potentially involving physical tasks such as patient mobility and bending.
    • Demonstrated strong attendance and performance record.
    • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
    • Capacity to work autonomously and collaborate effectively within the healthcare team.

    Preferred

    • Desirable to possess 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Evaluate patients referred for inpatient occupational therapy services.
      • Develop tailored treatment plans based on patient capabilities and goals.
      • Implement treatment strategies and educate patients and their families throughout the process.
      • Monitor patient progress, contribute to best practice models, and engage in ongoing education to enhance occupational therapy services.
      • Collaborate with healthcare team members, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure adherence to occupational therapy standards.
      • Supervise support staff and uphold safety protocols within the treatment environment.
      • Engage in continuous improvement and deliver high-quality occupational therapy services.
      • Perform any other duties as assigned.
