RELEVANCE & IMPACT:

The Database Administrator is directly responsible for integrity and security of data for our clients.

Ensuring databases are running at their peak performance allows our clients to have the most up to date information when they need it, where they need it, in order to make the most accurate decisions possible.

Communicating with the client when there is an issue is the highest priority, so the client knows when their data might not be at it's best.

Your ability to work closely with the team will allow us to keep each other on the same page and to motivate each other to continue to improve.

The ability to work without supervision will ensure we maintain our high quality service to the clients while allowing the team their turn to train and improve the team as a whole.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Based in Canada and reporting to the Associate Director of Database, you will:

Deliver Excellent Customer Service

  • Addressing automated incidents and client requests as they come in
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently to clients
  • Document and detail work performed in tasks

Be an Owner of the DBA team

  • Actively work to improve the service by automation and identifying ways to improve upon our processes
  • Support your teammates in achieving team goals
  • Consistently work to improve your knowledge of Data technologies

Advanced DB Work

  • Assist in designing, implementing, and testing DR failover
  • Create reports, monitoring, and alerts to better support our clients
  • Troubleshoot and resolve query performance issues

REQUIREMENTS:


Applicants must possess:

  • 3+ years of
    MS SQL, PostgreSQL DBA experience
  • Related formal database education or DBA certification
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong understanding of database platforms in an enterprise infrastructure with the ability to utilize database administration tools
  • Industry certifications (MCSA, MCSE, DP300)
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Familiar with Change Management and ITIL processes
  • Ability to provide timely and informative followup to endusers
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight
